Craquelure across the painted surfaces. Damage to the canvas on the seated lady on her neck. the young girl in the lilac dress has been cut out and then reattached to the main canvas. Signs of retouching throughout both pictures, notably the young boys face. damage to the painted surface around the stretcher marks. We suspect that at one stage, this was a single painting that has been cut into the two that it now is. Some scratches to the painted layer in the top right of the right hand canvas.
